SKILL SHOPS

Skill Shops offered every month from September – May. Every 2 nd Tuesday of the month

Live Skill Shops are FREE and hosted by staff of Supporting Success for Children with Hearing Loss. Each month we will feature practical tips on how to use a product or service that serves our community of educators and parents.

Teacher Tools Takeout subscribers can access the recorded video of the Skill Shop in their Video Library. Log in to your account, and go to ‘Skill Shops’ to find the current recordings.

FEBRUARY
Tuesday, February 11, 2025 – 7:00 PM Central Time
Join your SSCHL hosts as we feature Cynthia Long, Nationally Certified Interpreter, Teacher Tools Takeout Author, and owner of ASL Teaching Resources.  Cynthia will be discussing using ASL in your instruction, and showing us lots of great resources to use with your students.
JANUARY
Tuesday, January 14, 2025 – 7:00 PM Central Time.

With your hosts from Supporting Success and featuring author Dr. Carl B. Williams of the book No Limits: A Practical Guide for Teaching Students Who Are Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Dr. Williams will be discussing including transition and career education to our teaching with practical advice on IEP goals and planning.

With your hosts from Supporting Success and featuring Maribel Martinez Tamez, MS, DEHS, CED/TODHH. Maribel is the founder of Listen to Signs, LLC, a Virtual provider of itinerant services for students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing their families, and schools. With over 19 years of experience, Maribel has served children from birth through 12 grade, helping them achieve access and equity in inclusive school settings.

Maribel will give us a practical advice for using the Student Communication Repair Inventory and Practical Training (SCRIPT). If you have this resource in your library and have not used it, or have wondered what to do, join us for this Skill Shop—it’s for you!

NOVEMBER
Tuesday, November 12, 2024 – 7:00 PM Central Time
With your hosts from Supporting Success and featuring author of the Test of Auditory Functioning (TAF), Dr. Donald Goldberg. Dr. Goldberg is a clinician and a professor who has worked with deaf children for over 40 years. His TAF test is flying off our shelves and has quickly become a new tool for Educators of the Deaf to assess listening. Join us as Dr. Goldberg explains the research behind the test and how to administer it to your students.
