INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES

Instructional Strategies focused on the development of literacy skills. Literacy is the ability to gather information through listening and reading, understand how language is used to organize, evaluate, and manipulate knowledge, and then to effectively communicate through speaking and writing. Literacy is more than being able to read and write. Instructional Strategies discussed specific literacy topics each month and related them to listening, math, reading and science. Once a child has the basic ability to read, teaching does not stop. Each school year brings new information and new ways to connect and relate facts and vocabulary. Literacy is an ongoing instructional area from kindergarten through high school.
